Burkina Faso’s transitional president, Captain Ibrahim TraorĂ©, has named General Moussa Diallo as the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (CEMGA). The announcement was made on Thursday via national television.
Promoted to Brigadier General earlier this week, General Diallo succeeds Brigadier General Célestin Simporé, who now serves as Minister of Defense in the government led by Prime Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo.
He previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces while commanding the Special Rapid Intervention Brigade.
The newly appointed CEMGA also held the position of governor of the Hauts-Bassins region before joining the General Staff.
