The Benin Court for the Repression of Economic Offences and Terrorism (CRIET) has issued committal orders for prominent business tycoon Olivier Boko and former sports minister Oswald Homéky.
The decision was announced following a hearing on Tuesday, in which the two high-profile figures were accused of involvement in a coup attempt aimed at destabilizing the government.
The charges against Boko and Homéky are related to their alleged role in orchestrating activities intended to undermine the current Beninese government.
While details of the coup attempt remain largely undisclosed, sources suggest that both individuals have been under investigation for several months due to their alleged ties to political and economic networks suspected of attempting to destabilize the state.
