Benin Court Sentences President Talon’s Former Allies to 20 Years for Conspiracy Against the State

Benin’s Court for the Repression of Economic Crimes and Terrorism (CRIET) has sentenced Olivier Boko, Oswald Homeky, and businessman Rock Niéri to 20 years in prison on charges of conspiracy against the state.

In one of the country’s most high-profile legal cases, the court also imposed a hefty fine of 1.5 billion CFA francs on each of the convicted individuals.

The case has drawn significant public attention, reflecting Benin’s intensified crackdown on economic and political crimes.

The ruling underscores the government’s firm stance against actions deemed a threat to national stability, though it has also sparked debates about political motives and judicial independence in the country.
