Burkina Faso Uncovers Corrupt Official Network Amid Humanitarian Crisis

Burkina Faso’s transitional president, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, revealed on Monday the discovery of extensive embezzlement within his administration, accusing some ministers of siphoning off billions of CFA francs while the country faces a severe humanitarian crisis.

Traoré announced the uncovering of a “network of criminals” operating within the Ministry of Humanitarian Action.

According to the president, initial investigations have led to the seizure of numerous luxury goods and vehicles, and the arrest of agents from the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR).

Captain Traoré stated that the investigation is ongoing, expressing concern that similar corruption networks may exist throughout the public administration.

He has urged the Commission for the Settlement of Dysfunctions within the Public Administration to intensify its efforts to expose all corrupt officials and eliminate corruption from the government.
