Burkina Faso’s Transitional President Appoints New Prime Minister

The Burkinabe transitional president Traore has appointed Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo as the new Prime Minister of the Transition, according to a presidential decree read on national television, this Saturday.

Following the governments dissolvent on Friday.

The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, tasked him with forming a new government, just 24 hours after the dissolution of the previous executive.

The former Minister of State, Minister in charge of Communication, was therefore designated to succeed Dr Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem of Tambèla.

Mr. Ouedraogo, a renowned journalist on national television, was appointed Minister of Communication in October 2022, in the first government formed after the coup that overthrew Paul-Henri Damiba, the latter having himself ousted Roch Kaboré eight months earlier.
