The Burkinabé army has successfully neutralized about fifteen terrorists, including the executive of the Support Group for Islam and Muslims (GSIM), Sangaré Boukary, alias Abou Fadima, in the Kossi province in the western part of the country.
The army’s response followed an attack by the GSIM terrorist group on July 25, 2024, in the village of Koury, located in the commune of Sono, Kossi province.
The defense and security forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) acted promptly and decisively.
Their determination and commitment led to the elimination of fifteen terrorists, including the sought-after leader Sangaré Boukary, known as Abou Fadima.
Originally a livestock dealer, Sangaré Boukary established connections with terrorists in a neighboring country before starting to supply them with fuel and communication credits. Abou Fadima was also implicated in several significant attacks, including those in the city of Nouna, targeting the Territorial Brigade of the Gendarmerie of Djibasso, the village of Bourasso, and the GARSI of Barani.
