The National Election Management Agency (ANGE) has warned political parties in Chad, emphasizing its sole authority to announce provisional results for the December 28–29 elections.
With over eight million voters casting ballots to elect deputies, senators, and municipal councilors, the post-election atmosphere has been marked by increasing tensions.
Opposition parties in Doba have accused the ruling Patriotic Salvation Movement (MPS) of ballot stuffing, while the National Union for Democracy and Renewal (UNDR) in Mayo-Kebbi Est has faced criticism for allegedly declaring results prematurely.
Ahmed Bartchiret, President of ANGE, denounced these actions as breaches of the electoral code.
He urged all political actors to respect the process and exercise restraint as the agency works toward releasing provisional results, expected by mid-January.
The agency’s statement comes as the country watches closely, with hopes that the election outcome will be resolved peacefully and transparently.
