Côte d’Ivoire’s Independent Electoral Commission (CEI), has expressed concern over the low voter turnout at registration centers ahead of the October 2025 presidential election.
Despite the registration process being underway for two days, many centers are struggling to attract applicants, with some seeing little to no activity.
President of the commission Coulibaly Kuibiert peaking at a Press Club event organized by the National Union of Journalists of Côte d’Ivoire (UNJCI), Kuibiert called on journalists to help raise public awareness about the importance of voter registration.
He emphasized the crucial role of media in encouraging citizens to participate in the electoral process by getting registered to vote.
The voter registration drive is essential for ensuring that eligible voters are prepared to participate in the upcoming elections, and the CEI is urging the public to take advantage of the registration period
