The ECOWAS Ministers of Energy and Hydrocarbons are calling for the adoption of critical agreements to accelerate the $26 billion African Atlantic Gas Pipeline (AAGP) project.
At a recent meeting, the ministers proposed that the ECOWAS Council of Ministers and the President of the ECOWAS Commission work towards the formal signing of the Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) and Host State Agreement (HGA), aiming for completion between the upcoming December ECOWAS Summit and early 2025.
These agreements are essential to mobilizing resources and securing cross-border cooperation for the AAGP, which is expected to strengthen regional energy access and bolster economic growth across the sub region.
