Eight Civilians Found Burned in Mali’s Central Region

Eight people, including women and a two-year-old child, were discovered burned in their vehicle near the town of Doma, central Mali.

The victims had been missing since 2 January 2025, after departing Niono in the Ségou region en route to the Mberra refugee camp in Mauritania.

A search notice issued on 3 January by the Honourable Abdoul Madjid Ag Mohamed Ahmed, chief of the Kel Ansar tribe, detailed the names of the occupants and appealed for assistance in locating them.

Malian authorities have yet to issue an official statement, and no group has claimed responsibility for the tragedy.

The circumstances surrounding the incident and the perpetrators remain unknown.
