Former Ivorian First Lady Simone Gbagbo Declares Presidential Candidacy for 2025 Elections

Former First Lady of Côte d’Ivoire, Simone Ehivet Gbagbo has formally announced her candidacy for the country’s 2025 presidential elections.

She will be running under the banner of her political party, the Mouvement des Générations Capables (MGC).

The announcement came during the MGC’s inaugural convention, held in Moossou, a historic town near Abidjan and her birthplace.

Addressing a large crowd of party members and supporters, Gbagbo outlined her vision to lead Côte d’Ivoire into a new era of progress, unity, and prosperity.

“My candidacy is a call for a new Côte d’Ivoire,” she declared, emphasizing themes of reconciliation, economic development, and social justice. Gbagbo also pledged to focus on empowering youth and women as key drivers of the nation’s future.

Her nomination comes as Côte d’Ivoire’s political landscape intensifies, with the 2025 elections shaping up to be a pivotal moment for the nation.
