France Hands Over Military Camp in Abéché, Northern Chad

The French government has officially handed over its military camp in Abéché to the Chadian authorities.

The handover ceremony was attended by Chad’s Minister of Defence, Issaka Maroua Djamous, a delegation of Chadian officials, and representatives of the French military.

Speaking at the event, Colonel Boris Pomirol, Commander of French Forces in the Sahel, emphasised the enduring partnership between the two nations.

He noted that the relationship is evidence of the friendship that exists between the two countries.

For his part, Minister Djamous welcomed the transfer but reiterated that the complete withdrawal of French troops must be finalised by 31 January 2025.
