Gambia Anti-Drug Agency Arrests 39 Suspects, Including Foreign Nationals

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of Gambia (DLEAG) has arrested 39 individuals, including foreign nationals, in various illegal crackdown operations conducted from 10 to 16 January 2025 across the country.

Those arrested include 36 Gambians, two Senegalese, and one American national.

Seizures made during these operations include significant quantities of cannabis in various forms, including hashish, as well as 579 ecstasy pills and several stones of cocaine.

The Agency also reported several cases in courts of first instance, including eight for possession of narcotics and four for drug trafficking. Of the eight cases tried, seven resulted in convictions, while one ended in an acquittal.
