The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in The Gambia has initiated a comprehensive training program for the country’s security forces on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
Launched on Monday in partnership with the Ministry of Justice and funded by the European Union, the initiative aims to enhance the capacity of military and law enforcement personnel.
The training focuses on equipping participants with a deeper understanding of international norms for protecting civilians during conflicts and addressing gender-based violence.
This program reflects The Gambia’s commitment to upholding human rights, promoting accountability, and fostering a security apparatus that aligns with international standards.
