Ghana’s Electoral Commission Successfully Conducts Special Voting Ahead of General Election

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has concluded a special voting exercise across 14 of the country’s 16 regions, paving the way for a smooth general election on December 7.

The special voting initiative was organized to enable election officials, security personnel, and accredited media representatives to cast their ballots ahead of the main election day, ensuring their availability to perform critical duties during the general election.

Reports indicate that the exercise was largely successful, with polling stations operating efficiently in most areas. Voters were observed adhering to laid-down procedures, and electoral staff ensured compliance with regulations to maintain order throughout the process.

However, minor challenges were reported in some locations, including delays in opening polling stations and isolated instances of missing names on the special voters’ register. The EC has assured the public that these issues will be addressed promptly to avoid disruptions on December 7.

In a statement, the EC praised the conduct of voters and election officials, describing the exercise as a positive step in the country’s electoral process. “This special voting initiative demonstrates our commitment to delivering credible and transparent elections for the people of Ghana,” the statement read.
