The Ghana Electoral Commission (EC) has assured the public, including political parties, that it will release a detailed summary of the Voters Register by Monday, November 11.
This decision follows requests from political groups, including the National Democratic Congress, seeking a full breakdown of registered voters ahead of the 2024 elections.
Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services, stated that the EC is not legally required to provide such data.
However, EC technicians are actively working to extract the various summaries, making them accessible to the public as part of the Commission’s commitment to transparency.
He emphasized that these statistics will soon be available for verification, even though the certified Voters Register has already been shared with political parties.
The details requested by political parties include the total number of registered voters, voter transfers, constituency and regional populations, proxy lists, and other specifics.
These data points are intended to help validate the accuracy of the Voters Register for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The EC has maintained that the Voters Register is credible and reliable, urging the public to support its efforts in ensuring a free, fair, and transparent election on December 7, 2024.
