The Electricity Company of Ghana has pledged uninterrupted power supply for 7 days.
The exercise, dubbed “Operation Keep the Lights On,” will ensure essential services to customers in all ECG operational areas.
This assurance comes after Independent Power Producers (IPPs) threatened to shut down multiple power plants due to unpaid debts.
ECG’s External Communications Manager, Nii Ayiku Ayiku, confirmed this development to the media, reassuring that both parties have reached mutual agreements to avert the situation.
According to reports, the government has reached a temporary agreement with the IPPs, paying off part of the debt and establishing a payment plan to settle the remaining balance.
