Ghana’s Main Opposition Calls for Forensic Audit of Voter’s Register Ahead of December 7 Polls

Ghana’s main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on key stakeholders, including civil society organizations, religious bodies, and labor unions, to support their demand for a forensic audit of the voter’s register.

This request was made during a stakeholder engagement held yesterday, where the NDC presented evidence highlighting alleged significant discrepancies in the register.

According to the party, over 15,000 unexplained voter transfers, 3,500 voters deleted from the 2023 provisional register, and more than 2,000 missing names were observed.

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, NDC’s Director of Elections and IT, reaffirmed the party’s mistrust in the Electoral Commission of Ghana, citing these discrepancies as the basis for their concerns.
