Ghana’s Parliament has successfully passed the Affirmative Action Bill after years of unsuccessful attempts.
The bill, which had been pending for over a decade, aims to promote and increase the active participation of women in public life, targeting a minimum female representation rate of at least 30% by 2030.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, emphasized the importance of not just celebrating this symbolic milestone, but actively working towards realizing the vision set for Ghana’s future.
He urged citizens and lawmakers to push for constitutional reforms to create a free and just society that empowers women to contribute significantly to national development.
