Ghana’s Parliament to Resume Sessions Early November

The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has engaged in extensive discussions with the Council of State to resolve recent legislative challenges that led to Parliament’s indefinite recess.

In an official statement released on October 31, the Speaker announced plans to recall Parliament in early November. The Council has committed to supporting the resolution of outstanding issues to facilitate this process.

Speaker Bagbin also emphasized his dedication to advancing Ghana’s democracy and shared his intention to attend the 67th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference in Sydney, Australia, where he will formally hand over the CPA presidency. He assured that he will return earlier than planned to prioritize the recall and address urgent national matters.
