Ghana’s President-elect John Dramani Mahama has vowed to review agreements with development partners to better align with the nation’s evolving needs and aspirations.
During a courtesy visit from United Nations Resident Coordinator Charles Abani, Mr. Mahama emphasized the importance of partnerships that reflect contemporary realities and the vision of his incoming administration.
This transition is guided by Section 1 of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), which mandates the formation of a Transition Team within 24 hours of declaring presidential election results.
The Act ensures a smooth handover and continuity between administrations, fostering collaboration with development partners and stakeholders.
Mahama highlighted the urgency of engaging international institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, to align ongoing programmes with the priorities of his incoming government.
