President John Dramani Mahama has taken a bold step to streamline Ghana’s Civil Service by reducing the number of ministries from 30 to 23.
The reduction of ministries is aimed at boosting government efficiency and curbing administrative costs.
The reorganisation, formalised through an Executive Instrument signed on January 9, 2025, reflects his commitment to creating a leaner, more effective government.
The newly structured government includes key ministries such as the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and the newly formed Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.
Other notable additions are the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, and the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, signaling an emphasis on technological advancement, trade expansion, and sustainable growth.
