Ghana’s Presidential Contenders Hold Final Campaign Rallies

Election campaigns in Ghana concluded on Thursday evening with the two main presidential contenders staging rival rallies in Accra, intensifying efforts to win over voters ahead of Saturday’s polls.

Former president John Dramani Mahama, representing the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), rallied supporters in the Madina neighborhood, portraying the election as a pivotal opportunity to “reset the country” amid Ghana’s worst economic crisis in decades.

Mahama’s campaign has focused on holding Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, accountable for economic policies they blame for the downturn.

Meanwhile, Bawumia addressed his supporters at the University of Ghana campus, emphasizing the ruling party’s strides in stabilizing the economy and positioning it for recovery.

He argued that the current administration’s efforts had outperformed Mahama’s tenure from 2012 to 2016.

The race, marked by a clash of visions for Ghana’s future, has kept voters divided as pre-election polls position Mahama as the frontrunner in this critical contest.
