Guinea and Mali Sign Agreement to Expand Optical Fiber Connectivity

The Guinean transitional government and Mali have signed an interconnection agreement to expand optical fiber connections between the two countries.

This agreement is between the National Backbone Management Company (SOGEB) of Guinea and the Malian Transmission and Diffusion Company (SMTD).

The agreement follows the second edition of Mali’s digital activity, which took place in Conakry from Tuesday, June 25, to Thursday, June 27, 2024.

This event provided a platform for both nations to discuss and advance their digital infrastructure and connectivity goals.

By enhancing the optical fiber network, the partnership aims to improve internet access and digital services in both countries.

This development is expected to bolster economic growth, facilitate better communication, and foster stronger bilateral relations between Guinea and Mali.

Both governments are optimistic that this initiative will lead to further innovations and improvements in their respective digital landscapes.
