Guinean opposition leader Aliou Bah and executives of the Movement for Liberal Democracy are scheduled to appear in court today after their arrest by the Judicial Investigations Division of the Gendarmerie.
Bah was detained following allegations of making offensive remarks about the president of the transition during a party assembly.
His case will be presented before the public prosecutor at the Dixinn Court of First Instance.
The arrest has ignited widespread reactions, with calls for Bah’s immediate and unconditional release.
Critics argue that the detention undermines freedom of expression and political dialogue during Guinea’s transitional period, raising concerns about the state of democratic principles in the country.
