Guinea’s Transitional President Sets Path for Return to Constitutional Order in 2025

Guinean transitional president, General Mamadi Doumbouya, has announced that 2025 will mark a decisive year for Guinea’s return to constitutional rule.

In a national address, General Doumbouya revealed plans to sign a decree setting the date for a constitutional referendum in the first quarter of 2025.

The electoral calendar will include presidential, legislative, and municipal elections, designed to be transparent, inclusive, and aligned with republican principles.

A key highlight was the announcement to lift restrictions on political activities imposed by the National Committee for Development (CNRD).

These activities will be fully authorized starting in 2025, though the president emphasized the need to uphold public order and adhere to the rule of law.

The forthcoming constitution, he stated, will embody the aspirations of the Guinean people and serve as a cornerstone for stable and democratic governance.

General Doumbouya also stressed the importance of maintaining social peace, cautioning against violence and affirming the state’s commitment to preserving public order.
