Ivorian Political Parties and Civil Society Form Alliances Ahead of 2025 Presidential Election

With just over a year remaining until the presidential election, political parties and civil society organizations in Côte d’Ivoire are already forming strategic alliances.

Key players in this coalition include the Parti Démocratique de la Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI), led by Tidjane Thiam, the Parti des Peuples Africains Côte d’Ivoire (PPACI) under Laurent Gbagbo, the Générations et Peuples Solidaires (GPS) founded by Guillaume Soro, and the Congrès Panafricain des Jeunes et des Patriotes (Cojep) led by Charles Blé Goudé.

This emerging alliance is focused on pressing the government to address concerns regarding the electoral system.

The coalition aims to ensure that the upcoming elections are conducted fairly, with an emphasis on creating a transparent and inclusive electoral process.

Their efforts include advocating for reforms that they believe are necessary for a credible election, such as improving the voter registration process, ensuring the independence of electoral bodies, and promoting a peaceful political environment.

As the election approaches, these groups are expected to increase their activities, holding consultations and mobilizing supporters to build momentum for their cause.

Their collaboration highlights the growing demand for a more participatory and accountable electoral process in Côte d’Ivoire.

The political landscape in Côte d’Ivoire is becoming increasingly dynamic, with these alliances potentially playing a crucial role in shaping the outcome of the 2025 presidential election.
