The Ivorian Popular Front (FPI), an opposition party led by former Prime Minister Affi N’Guessan, has called on the government to organize an inclusive political dialogue to ensure a peaceful and transparent presidential election in October 2025.
The FPI emphasized that all opposition parties are united in their demand for dialogue.
However, they accused the government of ignoring these calls, stating it “turns a deaf ear and pretends to look the other way.”
The party also referred to a recent address by the spokesperson for the diplomatic corps, who urged for “a peaceful, democratic, inclusive, and transparent election” during a New Year’s exchange with President Alassane Ouattara.
President Ouattara, during his address to the diplomatic corps on January 9, 2025, expressed his eagerness to continue serving the country but refrained from clarifying his intentions regarding his potential candidacy in the upcoming election.
The FPI criticized his remarks, suggesting he avoided addressing critical issues and instead “responded, without really responding.”
In response to the FPI’s demand for political dialogue, government spokesman Amadou Coulibaly encouraged concerned parties to present their issues to the appropriate institutions. The opposition insists that dialogue is essential to prevent electoral crises and promote stability in Côte d’Ivoire.
