The Joint Public Account and Audit Committee of the Liberian Legislature has issued a warning to President Joseph Boakai regarding the indictment of officials based on audits conducted by the General Auditing Commission (GAC) without the Legislature’s recommendation.
The committee emphasized that acting on the GAC audits to indict former government officials and suspend the country’s Bank Governor, Aloysius Tarlue, is deemed illegal without legislative endorsement.
The Legislative body insists that such actions should follow due process and include recommendations from the Legislature to ensure legality and fairness.
This stance highlights the importance of maintaining procedural integrity and checks and balances within the governance framework of Liberia.
