Mahama Vows Accountability for Misconduct Among Military Personnel During Election

Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama has raised concerns over reports of military personnel allegedly disrupting the declaration of parliamentary results in some constituencies.

In a strongly-worded social media statement, Mahama criticized what he termed “unscrupulous military personnel” for their alleged attempts to incite violence and undermine the electoral process. His remarks come as tensions escalate in certain areas amid reports of security force interference during the ongoing collation of results.

While the Electoral Commission (EC) has distanced itself from military deployments, emphasizing that such matters fall under the purview of the Election Security Task Force, stakeholders and observers remain vigilant. The incidents have sparked widespread apprehension as Ghana awaits the final election outcomes.
