Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger Plan Unified Visa System for AES

Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger are advancing plans for a unified visa system to enhance regional integration within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

Experts from the three nations met in Bamako over the weekend to lay the groundwork for the initiative, which aims to simplify travel and strengthen economic ties.

Once implemented, foreign nationals will need only a single visa to move across the AES region, easing entry requirements and promoting cross-border cooperation.

Despite the bloc’s recent departure from ECOWAS, officials believe the common visa will boost trade, security, and diplomatic collaboration.
