Malian Army and Armed Groups Clash in the North

The Malian army, supported by Russian auxiliaries, over the weekend, engaged in intense fighting with the armed groups of the Permanent Strategic Framework in Tinzawaten, a locality situated over 230 kilometers from Kidal near the Algerian border.

The clashes have resulted in multiple deaths, although the exact number remains unclear. Both sides claim to have driven out the other, leaving the control of the city disputed.

This escalation underscores the persistent instability in northern Mali, where various armed groups continue to challenge the central government’s authority.

The involvement of Russian auxiliaries adds further complexity to the conflict, raising concerns about regional and international repercussions.

As the situation in Tinzawaten remains fluid, further developments are anticipated.
