An alliance of political parties and civil society groups in Mali is demanding the release of their leaders, allegedly arrested by the government on Thursday during a private meeting at a former minister’s house.
The families of the detained leaders are deeply concerned, seeking a swift and peaceful resolution. The Transitional authorities are under scrutiny, with many expecting a gesture of reconciliation and a return to normal political life.
Since the suspension of political activities on April 10, this decision has faced significant criticism.
The arrested include notable political figures such as former minister Mohamed Aly Bathily, Moustapha Dicko of Adéma-Pasj, and Mamadou Traoré, president of the Union party.
Other detainees are Samba Coulibaly, Abdramane Korera, Laya Guindo, Moulaye Omar Haïdara, Amadou Maïga, Yaya Sangaré, Male Camara, and another Mamadou Traoré from Alternative for Mali.
