The Malian Council of Ministers, led by transitional President General Assimi Goïta, convened its first meeting on Wednesday after the dismissal of former Prime Minister Choguel Kokalla Maïga.
During the session, General Goïta outlined key priorities for the new executive.
These include bolstering defense and security, completing political and institutional reforms, enhancing health and education systems, meeting essential public needs, calming social tensions, strengthening diplomatic ties, and preparing for inclusive, transparent, and peaceful elections to conclude the transition period.
The newly appointed Prime Minister, Abdoulaye Maïga, expressed gratitude to the President for his trust and committed to aligning the government’s actions with these objectives to address Malians’ expectations.
Later, at his first cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Maïga urged government members to foster team cohesion and promote intercommunity activities aimed at national unity.
Preparations for a government seminar were also discussed, emphasizing collaborative efforts to strengthen social bonds.
