NANHRI Calls for Torture Prevention and Protection of Vulnerable Groups in Gambia

The Network for African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRI) has urged the prevention of torture and the protection of vulnerable groups, including the LGBTQ+ community, in Gambia.

This call was made during a four-day forum in Banjul, where NANHRI gathered to advocate for enhanced human rights protections across Africa.

As the 81st Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights approaches, participants at the forum emphasized the need for stronger legislative frameworks and more effective enforcement mechanisms to combat torture and safeguard the rights of vulnerable groups.

NANHRI’s advocacy highlights the importance of addressing these critical issues across the continent.
