Niger and Algeria have reiterated their commitment to enhancing cooperation across various sectors during the visit of Nigerien Prime Minister Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine to Algiers.
The Nigerien leader arrived in the Algerian capital on Monday and was received in audience by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Tuesday.
According to a statement from the Algerian presidency, Lamine Zeine delivered a letter from Niger’s Military Council President, Abdourahamane Tiani, to President Tebboune. During his visit, the Nigerien Prime Minister also held discussions with his Algerian counterpart, Nadir Larbaoui, which were followed by a working session between the delegations of both countries.
In his remarks, the Algerian Prime Minister emphasized Algeria’s strong interest in developing bilateral relations with Niger, a neighboring country, and praised the historical and fraternal ties between the two nations.
He highlighted the importance of bilateral mechanisms and high-level exchanges to elevate cooperation to higher levels.
Algerian President Nadir Larbaoui also spoke about the ongoing bilateral cooperation, expressing the mutual goal of both countries to enhance relations through the implementation of existing cooperation programs and the completion of joint development projects.
The visit they retreited marks a step in the ongoing efforts by Niger and Algeria to solidify their partnership and work together on mutual interests, underscoring the strategic importance of their relationship in the region.
