Nigerian Government Launches Youth Farmers’ Enrolment Portal to Tackle Unemployment, Food Insecurity

The Nigerian Government has introduced a new initiative aimed at addressing the twin challenges of rising food insecurity and unemployment across the nation.

The Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, announced the launch of the Youth Farmers’ Enrolment Portal, which is designed to align young Nigerians with the economic agenda of the current administration while encouraging active youth participation in national development.

Developed in partnership with the Nigerian Youth Economic Engagement and De-Radicalisation Programme (NIYEEDEP), the initiative aims to create economic opportunities for young people and strengthen the country’s agricultural sector.

The portal targets individuals aged 18 to 35, offering access to agricultural training programmes, modern farming techniques, mentorship opportunities, financial support, and resources to start or grow agricultural ventures.

In addition to increasing food production, the Youth Farmers’ Enrolment Portal will empower young Nigerians with sustainable skills, create job opportunities in both rural and urban areas, and contribute to the welfare and security of citizens nationwide.
