The Nigerian government has issued a warning to its citizens planning to travel to the United Kingdom, urging caution in light of recent violence.
This advisory follows the tragic killing of three girls at a concert, which has sparked significant unrest in the European nation.
In a statement released early today and signed by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Eche Abu-Obe, the government emphasized that the violence has reached dangerous levels.
There have been reported attacks on law enforcement agents and widespread damage to infrastructure. The statement also noted the growing anti-immigration sentiment, particularly targeting Muslim immigrants and people of color.
The advisory comes in the wake of a knife attack on July 29, 2024, at a children’s yoga and dance workshop.
The attack resulted in the deaths of three children, with eight others injured, five of whom remain in critical condition. Two adults at the event were also critically injured.
Nigerian citizens are urged to remain vigilant and reconsider their travel plans to the UK during this period of heightened tension and violence.
