Nigerian Military Arrests Key IPOB Terrorist Leaders in Ongoing Anti-Insurgency Operations

The Nigerian Military High Command announced the arrest of Pius Iguh, a terrorist leader linked to the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its security arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Major Gen Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, shared this update on October 24 in Abuja while briefing Defence Correspondents on military operations against insurgency across the country.

Iguh was apprehended during a sting operation in Imo State by troops from the Forward Base Operation (FOB) in the South East Theatre.

Gen Buba reported that another IPOB commander, Emmanuel Onwugu, was arrested during a raid conducted by troops at FOB Amaruku in the Mbano Local Government Area of Abia State.

These arrests are part of ongoing efforts by the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies to combat insurgency activities in the region.
