The Nigerian police have apprehended 130 individuals, primarily foreign nationals, during a weekend raid in the capital, Abuja.
Among the suspects are 113 foreign nationals—mainly of Chinese and Malaysian descent—alongside 17 Nigerian citizens. The arrests were made in a building located in the Jahi area, near Next Cash and Carry.
The operation was led by Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7, Abuja, AIG Benneth Igweh, and conducted in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force Zone 7 and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC).
During the raid, authorities uncovered sophisticated computer equipment believed to be used for cybercriminal activities.
The suspects, comprising 91 men and 39 women, are currently under investigation.
Forensic analysis of the seized equipment is underway as security officials assess potential national security risks tied to these cyber activities.
Authorities have pledged to update the public as the case develops, raising awareness of the extensive reach of cybercriminal networks potentially operating within Nigeria.
