Nigerian Senate Raises Alarm Over Economic Sabotage in Petroleum Sector

The Nigerian Senate has raised concerns over persistent economic sabotage in the petroleum sector, warning that it is undermining investor confidence.

During the inauguration of the Senate ad-hoc committee to investigate the alleged sabotage on Monday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio emphasized the urgent need to identify and hold accountable those responsible for these criminal acts.

Akpabio declared that the investigation is not merely a routine inquiry but a “rescue mission” critical to the nation’s future. He underscored the gravity of the situation, framing it as a matter of national security and sovereignty that, if left unaddressed, could cripple the Nigerian economy for generations.

He urged the committee members to collaborate with relevant agencies, industry experts, and stakeholders to thoroughly investigate the root causes of the economic sabotage, ensuring that no stone is left unturned.

The Senate President’s call to action highlights the significant challenges facing Nigeria’s petroleum sector and the broader implications for the country’s economic stability.
