Nigeria’s Borno State Conveys Lake Chad Basin Governors to Drive Regional Recovery

Nigeria’s Borno State is hosting the 5th Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) Governors’ Forum, a crucial three-day event focused on peacebuilding, cross-border cooperation, and sustainable development in the region.

Under the theme “Rebuilding the Lake Chad Basin,” the forum brings together regional leaders, policymakers, and international partners to assess security improvements, strengthen economic resilience, and coordinate efforts to restore stability across the conflict-affected area.

The Yobe State Government, in collaboration with the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is playing a key role in advancing recovery initiatives. These efforts include strengthening governance, restoring livelihoods, and fostering cooperation among the basin’s affected communities.

The LCBC Governors’ Forum serves as a platform for dialogue and strategic planning, aiming to consolidate recent security gains while ensuring long-term economic and social development for millions of people across the Lake Chad region.
