Nigeria’s EFCC Arrests Over 100 Internet Fraudsters in Global Cybercrime Crackdown

Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 105 individuals, including four Chinese nationals, over an alleged internet fraud scheme targeting hotels across Europe and beyond.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale discloased that the suspects were apprehended during the week after a raid was carryout on an apartment in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

According to Oyewale, the group is accused of running a bogus “hotel review job” operation designed to defraud victims internationally.

This latest crackdown follows a similar operation last month in which nearly 800 people, including 148 Chinese and 40 Filipino nationals, were arrested. That scheme reportedly involved romance scams and fraudulent cryptocurrency investments that swindled victims globally.

The EFCC described the arrests as part of its ongoing effort to combat cybercrime and dismantle international fraud networks.
