Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has called for the immediate release of minors arrested during the August End Bad Governance protests, urging that all charges against them be dropped.
The detained minors face a ten-count indictment, including alleged treason and conspiracy to commit felony with intent to destabilize the nation.
The protests, sparked by frustrations over high living costs and escalating insecurity, saw numerous arrests.
At a recent hearing, the Federal High Court set bail at N10 million (approximately $6,000) for each detainee.
However, proceedings were abruptly paused when four minors collapsed, prompting the judge to adjourn the session temporarily.
The court also ordered that the minors remain in detention, with the next hearing scheduled for January 2025.
