The Nigerien government has announced plans to launch both a national airline and a regional carrier for the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) to enhance connectivity and economic integration.
Transport Minister Colonel-Major Salissou Mahaman Salissou revealed that the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) has eased legal procedures to fast-track flight authorizations, with a dedicated committee expediting the necessary documentation.
The AES airline is a top priority, aiming to link member states’ capitals and improve regional mobility. Officials view the initiative as a crucial step toward strengthening cooperation among Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.
The AES Confederation, established on July 6, 2024, seeks to enhance infrastructure and promote economic resilience across the region.
