SADC Convenes Emergency Summit to Address Escalating DRC Crisis

Heads of Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) held an emergency summit today to tackle the deepening crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Chaired by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the summit seeks to develop regional strategies to address the ongoing security and humanitarian challenges, reinforcing efforts to achieve lasting peace in the DRC.

Leaders will review an interim report on the security situation and explore enhanced coordination among regional forces, including the SAMIDRC mission deployed by SADC to support Congolese forces.

This summit follows multiple regional and international initiatives aimed at de-escalating tensions and fostering sustainable peace in the region.
