Senegal Forms Expert Commission to Overhaul Oil and Gas Contracts

The Senegalese government has launched a new commission comprising legal, tax, and energy sector experts to review and adjust its oil and gas contracts.

Announced by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko during a televised address, the commission is tasked with rebalancing these key sectors to better serve the national interest.

The initiative aims to ensure that Senegal’s management of its oil and gas resources aligns with the country’s broader economic and energy objectives, promoting fairness and efficiency in the sector.

The commission’s work will involve a thorough examination of all significant oil and gas agreements currently in place.

This process is expected to lead to renegotiations of terms where necessary and the introduction of new regulations to improve the sector’s management.
