Senegal Launches Phase Two of Rural Drinking Water Project

The Senegalese government has launched the second phase of its rural drinking water project, aimed at expanding clean water access across the country’s rural communities.

Unveiled by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko in Kébémer, Louga region, the initiative is backed by a $100 billion investment and will focus on constructing critical hydraulic infrastructure to address water scarcity.

Officials say the project will significantly improve rural water supply, ensuring sustainable access for thousands of households.

This expansion aligns with the government’s broader efforts to enhance public health, support agriculture, and boost economic development in remote areas.

Implementation is already underway, with authorities promising efficient execution and long-term impact.
