Senegalese Customs Seize 235 kg of Cocaine in Major Drug Bust

Senegalese customs officials have intercepted 235 kilograms of pure cocaine in the Kaffrine region, central-east Senegal, marking another significant victory in the fight against international drug trafficking.

During a routine check of an L200 single-cabin pick-up vehicle from a neighboring country, officers discovered 210 packets of cocaine hidden in a sophisticated compartment between the vehicle’s chassis and bed.

Total Weight of 235 kg, Estimated Value of 18.8 billion CFA francs approximately over 20million dollars.

Tests conducted with detection kits, later confirmed by the National Laboratory of Technical and Scientific Police, authenticated the substance as pure cocaine.

The driver, a foreign national, has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing.

This operation is part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking along the Dakar-Kidira corridor.

Between March and November 2024, customs units seized a total of 2,114 kilograms of cocaine, valued at 169 billion CFA francs.

The Customs Administration reaffirmed its dedication to combating transnational organized crime, emphasizing its continued efforts to dismantle international drug trafficking networks.
