Senegal’s President, Basirou Diomaye Faye, has called for greater inclusiveness in the African education system to empower the continent’s youth and strengthen its human capital.
Speaking at the African Union Conference on Education, Youth, and Employability in Nouakchott, Mauritania, President Faye emphasized the collective responsibility of African states to invest in human resources. “Africa must invest in its own human resources and give young people the opportunities they deserve,” he said.
The conference, held under the theme “Educating and Qualifying Africa for the 21st Century,” convened leaders, ministers, experts, and civil society members to address pressing educational challenges. Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, who currently chairs the African Union, presided over the event.
Faye urged African leaders to collaborate on building economies capable of retaining talent and meeting the aspirations of the continent’s youth, positioning education as central to Africa’s development.
